Flight Operations
The NHP Flight Operations unit consists of three fixed wing aircraft. Hangared
at the Carson City airport is a turbocharged Cessna 210 Centurian six seat aircraft.
Hangared at the North Las Vegas Airport is a Cessna Skylane 182 RG four seat airplane
and based at the Elko Regional Airport is a Cessna 172 RG Cutlass four seat airplane.
The aircraft are predominantly used for airborne traffic enforcement, prisoner transport
and personnel transport. The planes are also used to assist allied law enforcement
agencies in surveillance and search missions as well as emergency blood runs. They have
proven invaluable during high speed pursuits and have also been used for accident scene
photography. Wild land fires are often discovered and reported by our pilots while airborne
During the past year, the three NHP airplanes flew a total of 1323 hours. The 226 speed
enforcement missions flown resulted in 8653 citations. Included in that total are 205 hazardous
moving violations (follow too close, unsafe lane change, etc.) and 24 arrests. (DUI, Reckless Driving,
Warrants etc.) In addition there were 71 prisoners transported and 162 motorist assists located.
