Deputy chief Philip Tilt
Nevada Highway Patrol

Deputy Chief Philip G. Tilt is assigned as the Highway Patrol
Division Deputy Chief with responsibility for the Southern Command area.
He has held that position since August 2000. Deputy Chief Tilt is a
twenty year veteran of the Department, and has served in a variety of
assignments. Deputy Chief Tilt joined the Department in 1983 and was
assigned to the Las Vegas area as a Highway Patrol Trooper. He was
promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to the Henderson/Boulder
City/Searchlight/Laughlin rural duty station and later as the Las Vegas
Administrative Sergeant. Deputy Chief Tilt was promoted to Lieutenant
and held assignments in Administration, Rural, Commercial, and Urban
traffic operations. Deputy Chief Tilt was promoted to Captain and was
assigned as the Las Vegas Urban and Rural Traffic Operations Commander
prior to his assignment as Deputy Chief and subsequent promotion to
Major.
Deputy Chief Tilt has additional law enforcement experience as a Deputy
Sheriff for White Pine County working in the Ely, Nevada area from 1981
through 1983 when he accepted a position with the Highway Patrol
Division. Deputy Chief Tilt also worked in Wyoming for the Glenrock
Police Department as a Dispatcher and as a Patrolman from 1978 through
1981.
Deputy Chief Tilt is a graduate of the Northwestern University Traffic
Institute School of Police Staff and Command.
