Lieutenant Roger Vind
Nevada Highway Patrol

Lieutenant Roger Vind is a fifteen year veteran with the Nevada
Highway Patrol. Vind is a third generation family member to serve as a
Police Officer. His father and uncle retired from the California Highway
Patrol and his Grandfather retired as the Deputy Chief of the Fresno
Police Department.
Vind was hired in October of 1988 and upon the completion of the
academy, was stationed in Elko, Nevada as a Trooper assigned to the
Commercial Enforcement Section. Two years later, Vind was transferred to
traffic operations in Reno Nevada.
In August 1996 Vind was transferred to the Dignitary Protection Detail
under the command of Lieutenant Angelo Webster. His duties consisted of
providing protection to Governor Bob Miller and the First Family. In
1997 Vind was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned as the
commander of the Dignitary Protection Detail.
In January of 2000, Vind transferred to Urban Traffic Operations working
out of the Reno Highway Patrol office and was assigned as the Graveyard
Traffic Commander.
In March of 2003, Vind, was assigned as the Acting Lieutenant and
Commander of the Fernley / Fallon District which also includes Lovelock
and Yerington, Nevada. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in July
of 2003 and has maintained his assignment as the Fernley/Fallon District
Area Commander.
Lieutenant Vind is married to his wife Lynn. They have three children,
two still live at home and attend the University of Nevada, Reno – Go
Wolf Pack!
