Lieutenant Fred Wurster
Nevada Highway Patrol

Lieutenant Fred Wurster began his career with the Highway Patrol in 1992, after earning a Bachelors of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno. He was assigned to traffic, stationed in the Hawthorne District. Lt. Wurster received training in advanced accident investigations and reconstruction from Northwestern University and Texas A&M. He also had assignments doing pre-employment background investigations, range master/ firearms instructor, and instructed new troopers as a Field Training Officer. Lt. Wurster has earned his Advanced POST certificate.

In February 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to traffic operations still in the Hawthorne District.

In September 2008 he was promoted to his current rank of Lieutenant and assigned to Southern Command operations as Urban Swing shift Commander in Las Vegas.
