HEAT

Highway Patrol Educating Adults & Teens
Colonel David HosmerThe goal of HEAT is to promote safe driving through education. The progam emphasizes three Safety Initiatives: Seat Belts Save Lives, Don't Drink and Drive and keep the Drag racing off the Streets and at the Track.

HEAT educates teens about: the dangers of alcohol at the Drivers Edge program and several Las Vegas Valley high schools. Troopers use fatal vision goggles to show teens and parents how alcohol impairs their ability to do two things at once and sends a strong message that they are not in control while impaired.

The roll over simulator is another great tool, as teens and adults are shocked to see that a person can be thrown from a vehicle at 35mph. Most assume that you need speed to roll and this is an eye opening experience for all to witness.

HEAT members (TROOPERS) provide educational efforts that directly affect our communities, targeting the crash severity and causation factors that impact the residents of the Las Vegas Valley. They direct their efforts towards Aggressive driving, safety belt use and impairment. Classes
include school age drivers, parents, public forums and military
personnel stationed in Las Vegas.
